Legacy and Timeline
Henry and Susan Samueli’s $200 million pledge for the health sciences is a capstone to their commitment to philanthropy and to UCI. The visionary gift names a first-of-its-kind College of Health Sciences focused on interdisciplinary integrative health and positions UCI as a bold, new leader in population health, patient care, education and research.
The William and Sue Gross Family Foundation committed $40 million to UCI to establish a nursing school and assist in the construction of a new building to house it. The contribution will help the university address critical healthcare concerns and enable the continued growth and excellence of UCI’s nursing program.
The construction of the Susan & Henry Sameli College of Health Sciences (COHS) and the Sue & Bill Gross Nursing and Health Sciences Hall (N&HSH) began in February 2020 and was completed in October 2022. For a quick journey in time, check out the construction blog over the last two years.
